DAY 2: Cervial SCS Trial

Night two was wonderful. I had worked in front of the computer most of the day which seems to cause a lot of neck and shoulder pain later in the day. Slumber however, came quicker and sounder than I can ever remember. "I am going to go watch a little Leno before I go to sleep" I told my husband. So the teeth were brushed, jamies on, meds ingested. With my glasses on the SCS was cranked so that I could feel it in my neck and shoulders as the pain was moderate enough to keep me tossing and turning, or so I thought. "Tonight we have Kathy Bates" Jay said; and that is all she wrote. My hubby said he came to bed a few minutes later, the monologue was still going but I was out like a light. I never do that! I am one who has to have the lights out, TV off and total quiet in order to sleep. My husband laughed and said he doesn't remember ever having to remove my glasses, turn off the lights and TV before climbing into bed himself.
Needless to say, night 2 seems to have been a success.

DAY ONE: Cervical Spinal Cord Stimulator Trial

I will digress later. As for now this will be a journal of the ins and outs of my Cervical SCS trial for pain management.
I long for a hot shower, and to be able to wash my own hair. My goodness, it has been less than 48 hours and I already feel like I look like a poor homeless person. I have to wear this silly cervical collar to boot which makes me look like I have 4 chins. It's all enough to drive a Virgo mad: or am I still considered a Virgo?
After returning home yesterday from the trial implant it was possible to take a much needed nap with the stimulator on at pretty good rate. Last night however, was a different story all together (No doubt the Versed  had finally worn off). It was discovered that once the SCS is turned up significantly enough to be felt in the neck and shoulders while lying down on ones side that the by product is something akin to the teeth chattering of a naked Californian in Alaska, if and when one rolls over onto their back while sleeping. A rude awakening to be sure. It does seem to help the pain however while laying still and fully supine.

Isn't that what I am trying to get away from with pain management?
